Mon 25th April 2016 category - general Lostock Hall based caravan and motorhome manufacturer, Lunar Caravans, was delighted to receive a visit from the Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor Mary Green. The Mayor, her Consort Mr Anthony Green and Jeanette Carr Business Development Manager from the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, were welcomed by the company’s senior directors and managers before being escorted on a tour of the factory, which employs over 255 local staff, many of them different generations of the same families. Established in Lostock Hall in 1969, Lunar has become one of the UK’s most successful caravan and motorhome manufacturers producing 36 different models across its Lunar and Venus brands, and in Europe under the brand Cristall. By placing a continued focus on improving design, durability and high quality finish, whilst retaining it’s leading ‘lightweight’ market edge, Lunar has succeeded in increasing the total volume of sales secured at the caravan industry’s last three consumer shows by 138%. Other recent successes include industry awards for ‘Best Motor Caravan’, Tourer of the Year’, ‘Best Family Caravan’ and ‘Best Luxury Tourer’. “It was a real honor for us to welcome the Mayor to our premises,” said Brian Mellor, the CEO and Chairman at Lunar Caravans, “Building caravans is not an uncomplicated process, so we took great enjoyment in providing the Mayor with a tour of our factory to illustrate the scale of work involved. “We feel that we are a Lancashire success story and, as such, we were proud to display what we do and show the part played by our locally sourced staff,” he added.
