Tue 27th October 2015 category - general Lunar has enjoyed a phenomenal response to it’s 2016 caravan and motorhome ranges with a 43% year-on-year increase on orders secured at The Motorhome & Caravan Show, held at the NEC in Birmingham. The Lancashire based manufacturer occupied over 1700m2 of stand space to display a choice of 65 different models across its Lunar and Venus caravan brands, and Landstar motorhome range. The sales performance follows on from a very successful show at The Caravan Extravaganza, held last month in Hull, where the company recorded an increase in orders of 75%. Lunar’s 2016 caravan collection offers a luxurious range of new interior features, fabrics and finishes, smart new exterior enhancements and the introduction of all-new models and revised layouts, many boasting transverse island beds. At the start of the season, Lunar had declared its 2016 range ‘it’s best yet’ and it would seem that many caravanners agree; as well as securing sales to existing customers, Lunar has reported a substantial increase in orders placed by first time caravanners and those switching from other tourer brands. The largest percentage of sales (43%) were for Lunar’s Clubman and Delta range, which for 2016 includes new features such as a ‘Maxi Skyview’ roof light, new soft furnishings, a restyled kitchen and washroom and the AL-KO Automatic Adjustment Braking system. New to the range is the Delta RI; a four-berth twin axle tourer, recently crowned ‘Tourer of the Year’ and ‘Best Luxury Tourer’ by Practical Caravan Magazine. The Delta RI offers an innovative new layout with a spacious mid-washroom leading to a rear bedroom with a transverse island bed featuring ‘easy action’ day/night mode, fittings ready for a wall mounted flat screen TV and an end window. However, the highest number of sales for an individual model was recorded for the all-new Quasar 574, demonstrating Lunar’s versatility and appeal to caravanners at all stages of the buying ladder. The four berth tourer also features a transverse island bed with an innovative optional mattress extender to make the total bed length 6’ 4”. It also incorporates changes made across the Quasar range, such as the inclusion of a ‘Skyview’ roof light, new ‘Metropole’ soft furnishings scheme, LED lighting, a restyled kitchen and a new ‘boutique hotel’ inspired washroom. The Venus Caravan range also proved popular, particularly with families and newcomers to caravanning. Offering smart new interior furnishings and finishes, a high specification kitchen, new style vanity unit in the washrooms and the introduction of a brand new four berth model, the 570 with transverse island bed, Venus continues to appeal to those seeking the best-value-for-money caravan on the market. Lunar’s two-berth motorcaravan, the Landstar, also secured an increased number of sales. Four models were on display at the NEC, all based on a premium Mercedes Sprinter; an RL (rear lounge), an EW (end washroom) and the RLS and EWS, Lunar’s high specification special edition range, which is available in each layout and offers a huge range of luxurious style and performance enhancements, such as an electric sliding door, Thule roll out canopy awning, roof mounted solar panel, front and rear parking sensors plus an engine upgrade. Says Lunar National Sales Manager, Lee Roberts, “This has been one of the best starts to a season we have ever experienced. Sales across both caravans and motorhomes are considerably higher than last year’s record number, with many more potential customers making appointments to visit our dealers post show." "It’s a huge boost for us, and for our design and manufacturing teams based back in Preston who work hard to deliver the best products possible for our customers to enjoy. It’s been a very difficult decade for everyone involved in caravan and motorhome manufacturing. The market is now in a state of recovery and the future is certainly looking much brighter” he added.
